Jacob has been designing lights for theatre since 2019 and has worked in other technical capacities since 2016. He received his bachelor's degree from San Diego State University before moving to Georgia for Graduate School. During his time at the University of Georgia, he designed three shows for the school, winning four awards.

​He was one of three winners in 2023 for the USITT Southeast design competition for his design of The Wolves and won again in 2025 for his design of 9 to 5. He also won two awards at KCACTF. In 2024, his design for Mother Courage & Her Children earned 2nd place for the David Weiss Regional Award, and in 2025, he won the Student Choice Award for 9 to 5.

He graduated with an MFA from the University of Georgia in 2025.
